Compare two electricity offers

Use the same monthly kWh for both offers. Enter cents per kWh, not dollars.

Constant usage and rates are assumed. This models entered supply rates and monthly fees only. It excludes utility delivery, demand, taxes, early termination, unquoted pass-throughs and seasonal or interval effects. The defaults are hypothetical, not available offers.

Explore a demand-charge scenario

Test a known tariff charge; do not confuse monthly demand with capacity allocation.

The charge is applied directly to entered billed demand. Tariff ratchets, minimums, power factor and other conditions may prevent a measured peak change from reducing billed demand. This is not an engineering design or a capacity-charge forecast.

Convert gas units transparently

Use the heat content shown on your bill when comparing volume and energy.

The 1,030 Btu/cubic foot default is an illustrative assumption, not a universal billing factor. Ccf and Mcf are volume; therms are energy. No gas rate or supplier quote is inferred.

Build a renewal preparation timeline

Choose a contract end date. Check the actual notice clause before relying on planning milestones.

Dates are preparation milestones, not contractual cancellation or enrollment deadlines. No reminders, calendar events or customer follow-ups are created. The actual agreement controls notice requirements.

Formulas and boundaries

Offer cost: monthly kWh × cents per kWh ÷ 100 + monthly fee. Multiply the monthly difference by the entered term for a constant-usage comparison. Seasonal and interval-sensitive products need a more detailed model.

Demand: entered billed kW × entered dollars per kW. The difference is conditional on the tariff allowing billed demand to change as entered. No capacity allocation is inferred.

Gas: 1 Mcf = 10 Ccf; therms = cubic feet × entered Btu per cubic foot ÷ 100,000. Volume-to-energy conversion depends on heat content.

Renewal: subtract 120, 90, 60 and 30 calendar days from the selected end date. These are preparation dates, not legal deadlines or reminders.
